Select The Year Of Your Vehicle Below
The Honda Wagovan, although rare, is called by many names. Because of its unique body from other Honda Civic variants, it is also referred to as the “Civic Wagovan” or the “Shuttle”. It was produced under the third generation of the Honda Civic, offered from the 1984 through 1987 model years.
The Wagovan was available in both front-wheel drive (FWD) and four-wheel drive (4WD), and was roomier than the Honda Civic sedan. The 1987 Honda Civic Wagon was powered by a 1.5-liter inline-four engine that produces 76 hp and 84 pound-feet of torque. While standard was a five-speed manual transmission, exclusive to the 4WD wagon was a 5+1-speed manual. Its real-time 4WD system featured an automatic viscous coupling that delivered power automatically to the rear wheels when needed.
What’s Special About the Honda Wagovan?
Some consider the Honda Civic Wagovan as the predecessor to Honda’s iconic crossover, the CR-V. With 5 cubic feet of space more than its sedan counterpart and not much heavier, the Wagovan was the ideal family car. It had a single-piece vinyl rear seat that slid forward to accommodate cargo if needed, and also metal bars across the rear side windows.
Is the Honda Wagovan Good on Gas?
The 1987 Honda Civic wagon was rated for 26 mpg in the city and 32 mpg for the highway, making it one of the most fuel-efficient wagons of its time. Looking to improve your gas mileage numbers? Find quality spark plugs for your Honda’s engine.
