The Honda Civic del Sol is a hardtop coupe convertible that was introduced by Honda in 1992. It was essentially a sports car version of the Honda Civic. While earlier models featured the same engines as the Civic S and Si, a VTEC model was later introduced. For the Del Sol’s body, it featured a roof that lifts out entirely to form an open-air targa. And with the touch of a button, the rear windows retract, transforming the Del Sol into a true convertible.

For the US market, the Honda Civic del Sol was sold until the 1997 model year. The final lineup featured S, Si, and VTEC models. The 1997 Honda Civic del Sol VTEC featured a satisfying 1.6-liter inline-four engine that produces 160 hp and 111 pound-feet of torque. It came in front-wheel drive and was standard with a five-speed manual transmission. Although the Civic was a compact car, the Civic del Sol managed to provide an adequate cargo space of 10.5 cubic feet.

Is the Honda Civic del Sol Fun to Drive?
