The Acura Legend is a luxury midsize car that Honda’s Acura division sold from 1985 through 1995. Sold in two model generations, it was produced both as a coupe and sedan. The Acura Legend was Honda’s first flagship sedan under the Acura nameplate. It also predated the luxury brands of Toyota and Nissan, which were Lexus and Infiniti, respectively. The success of the Legend sedan helped push both competitors to create their own luxury marques. In 1996, the Acura Legend was renamed the Acura 3.5RL (later Acura RL), which would continue on as Acura’s flagship until being succeeded by the RLX for the 2014 model year.

Before the arrival of the Acura 3.5RL, the last iteration of Acura’s first flagship car was the 1995 Acura Legend. It featured a 3.2-liter V6 engine that produced 200 hp and 210 pound-feet of torque. The top-of-the line Acura Legend GS boosted output to 230 hp and came standard with a six-speed manual transmission. Other trims of the 1995 Legend included the L, LS, and SE. In terms of fuel economy, the base trim was rated for 19 mpg combined.
