The Acura SLX is a full-size luxury SUV that was marketed by Acura from the 1996 through 1999 model years. It was based on the second-generation Isuzu Trooper. Combining the Trooper’s off-road capabilities and truck functionalities with the Acura brand's prestige and interior build quality, the SLX was a maxed-out version of Isuzu’s popular SUV.

The 1999 Acura SLX featured a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 215 hp and 230 pound-feet of torque. It came standard in four-wheel drive (4WD) and with a four-speed automatic transmission. The latest Acura SLX models also included a torque-on-demand (TOD) drive system which gave the luxury SUV ample acceleration. As an overlanding vehicle, it came with an 8.3-inch ground clearance and could carry 895 pounds of payload. Space on the back was also bigger than most competitors, providing 43.7 cubic feet of standard cargo space extendable up to 90.2 cubic feet.
