The Acura TL is a midsize luxury sedan sold by Honda’s Acura division. It spans four model generations from 1996 to 2014. It was Acura’s best-selling model until 2007, when it was overtaken by the Acura MDX. In the US, it was also the second top-selling luxury sedan in 2005, trailing only the BMW 3. In Japan, it was sold as the Honda Inspire from 1996 to 2000, and also as the Honda Saber until 2004. It was later replaced by the Honda TLX starting with the 2015 model year.

The best powertrain of the first-generation Acura TL models was the 3.2-liter C32A V6. It produced 200 hp and 210 pound-feet of torque. In 2002, Honda added a Type-S model for the TL, boosting max output to 256 hp. It was further surpassed with the 2007 Type-S, which featured a 3.5-liter J35A8 V6 engine that produced 286 hp. Aside from their superb sportiness, third-generation Acura TLs were also the first cars in the US to include a six-disc DVD audio system. Another enticing feature of the TL was the power moonroof, made standard starting 1997.

For the TL’s final model year 2014, it featured a 3.7-liter V6 engine with the high-end SH-AWD variant. It produced 305 hp and was a solid 26 mpg on the highway. With the Advanced package, the TL’s entertainment system was second to none. The upgrade included a 440-watt premium 10-speaker sound system, in-dash CD and DVD, 60 GB of hard drive storage, WMA and DTS featured player, and Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound.
